NetNITCO Network: Wireless | DSL / Dialup

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Wireless Internet?

Wireless Internet is a connection that is transmitted via radio waves from our tower to our equipment installed at your home and/or business.

What is fixed Wireless?

NetNITCO Wireless is a fixed broadband Internet connection. Fixed broadband means that the service is not portable, and is only accessible to computers inside your home or business, where we have installed the service.

Are there any requirements or equipment I need to have to get Wireless?

Your computer needs to have a Network Interface Card (NIC) which is also referred to as an Ethernet Card. The operating system requirements are as follows: Windows 98 or higher for PC, and OS 8.6 or above for Mac. NetNITCO also highly recommends that you have both a firewall and an anti-virus program installed on your computer, as this is a necessity.

Why do you need to get on my roof?

In many cases, our wireless team needs to be on top of you roof to establish line of site to one of our towers. Once line of site is established, they will also test for signal to ensure the most optimal placement of our equipment that will provide you with the best service. This not always on the roof, but in many cases it is.

I rent my home, can you still provide me with service?

NetNITCO is able to service condos, apartments, duplexes, town homes, and mobile homes. If you are currently renting your home, you will first need permission from your landlord to get your line of site survey completed.

What are the advantages of wireless over my other highspeed options?

Satellite

A satellite connection is affected greatly by weather. If there is any kind of storm or overcast condition, your service is likely to go down.

Cable

Bandwidth is shared by all the other subscribers on your street, so the more people that subscribe on your street, the slower you speed becomes. Many cable companies also charge much more for Internet service if you do not choose to use their television service as well.

DSL

Requires phone lines for the service. Wireless is just what it says, no wires!

Does it work on multiple computers?

Our wireless service does work on multiple computers in your home behind a router. We will configure one computer, and you are free to network any additional computers independently.

How much is it?

Our residential is $49.95/month
Call us today to discuss our business packages.

How fast is it?

It is about 20 times faster than dialup. The service is comparable to cable, DSL, and satellite on the download speeds. NetNITCO Wireless supersedes these connections on the upload.

Typically it is about 1 MG down, and 500K up.

How Secure is it?

NetNITCO Wireless uses proprietary technology. This means that someone trying to break into our system would have to reverse engineer all of our equipment. Secondly, each customer is assigned a MAC address, which acts as an electronic serial number that is validated against our private list. Thirdly, we use a 64-bit data encryption which scrambles the data over the air. With these three measures of security in addition to your firewall and anti-virus software, it makes it very difficult for anyone to crack into your connection.
